Lost in the forest
Brushing aside yellow leaves
A setting sun drifts
Yearning for my seaside town
I taste wet salt on my lips

Tree in Fog
Leafless hands
Against winter sky
Reach for sun
Two Odes to Bear Mountain

I.
Three horizons:
two hills in front as I know them
and another one behind.
Where it touches the sky,
a third range of blue shadow:
the train of night
not quite fallen away.
II.
From the highest
point, not even a bird.
The silence pristine
and I, another boulder or tree.
Aura
Windswept dock
Light beckons forward
Intrigued sea
Best Friend
At man’s feet
Stone antiquity
Canine guard
Cat Nap
Across her divan
A wrinkled sphynx in the sun
Even legends nap
Courtship
A besotted bee
dances with one small flower
among the ivy
Pines Over Hiking Trail
Against red clay walls
Green sentinels stand silent
Reverent trespasser
Beloved
Even asleep
Radiance that warms me
To the marrow
Paragliding
Curved sail
Punctuates sky
Hanging sunset
