I thought I was the only one
who rejoiced when the asters
lingered
Though their kin departed,
one late butterfly
finds more than beauty
He discovers respite
and sustenance
to live another day.
I thought I was the only one

lingered
Though their kin departed,
one late butterfly
finds more than beauty
He discovers respite
and sustenance
to live another day.
A butterfly alights
on a piece of
broken crockery
One painted daisy
in my garden
among many others
Unperturbed, it drifts
serenely to another
flying easily
from life’s
disappointments
to
joy.
Along the sidewalk
Sits a blue-winged butterfly
Sunshine after rain
Summery day.
Butterflies aloft
drift down
to bask in
the root of the earth.
Gathering, an admiring rain
pools gossamer
over yellow wings.
