before you, I open my hands
and reveal my beggar’s cup

empty for so long
I cannot explain my joy
when you fill it

  1. Love this! Wondering if it’s faith that fills yours in this one…or someone’s love. A friend of mine says she always has $1 bills on hand just for a small offering for beggar’s cups…and it fills her own cup to see their gratitude.

    1. I like gratitude, but I also berate myself if I get unhappy when someone doesn’t express thanks for something like a birthday gift I picked for them. Really makes me wonder if my motivation was selfish after all. At least your attitude avoids that. =)

      1. I’m the same as you. I hate not to receive thanks when I’ve put myself out for someone. But when I see beggars, I just think, there but for the grace of God…and I just feel guilty it’s them and not me.
