A touch of melancholy
fades colors to gray
Although the sun is warm
and the smiles genuine
somehow all is tainted
before they reach
my heart
Like a late blossom
it shrivels before
unfurling its petals –
Past the season:
no fruit to be fruitful.

Thank you. You can always find new things at my blog. I write daily.
There is nothing worse than a smile that is sent your way but never quite gets to you.
Yes! It’s frustrating when you know it should.
Seems I’m in the right mood to read this tonight–gray melancholy, or maybe I’m just exhausted. Great poem, as always.
Maybe it’s the cold weather doldrums. Rest up and I hope you feel cheerier soon. =)
Thank you, I’m sure I can ride and write it out!
It’s been a while… but I always enjoy reading your poems! Beautifully written!
Wow! It has been a while. So glad you dropped by. Please let me know if you start writing again. *hugs* ❤
This poem is absolutely beautiful. I think you have captured something many people find to be true. The image goes along perfectly as well. Thank you for posting.
Thank you for reading! Appreciate it. =)
That was so delightfully, creative. It was an elegant dance of intertwining words. Wonderful!
