in the lack of even
the gentlest zephyr
or swelling tide of sea;
surely you fool me with
a calm ship
on an acrylic —

  1. I like the poem, the thought and the whole tone, but might it be better if it didn’t start out with a double negative? “I refuse to believe in the lack of…” sounds wordy — but I’m not sure how you’d restate it.
