Today is National Poetry Day and I thought I’d create a post to have poets get to know each other better.
There are so many great writers here on WordPress. They say writing is a lonely endeavor, but if you’d like to discover more people to read or have more people read your work, please leave a little introduction and link to your blog.
Let’s make this a party! =)
EDIT: Some commentators have forgotten to link to their writing blog in their comments. If you click on the name above the comment, that should bring you to at least one of their blogs.
Breaking the ice on my own post! =)
I like writing haiku-like poetry but I’m open to all sorts of poetic form. If you like nature and don’t mind the occasional foray into fiction, I’d love to hear from you!

Grace, and now I have discovered your blog as well, wonderful! Cheers π
Thanks! =)
Ditto Grace’s comment. Thank you for visiting my blog, I am glad you did as it is how I found you (and this post!). I love what I have discovered here, your beautiful work. Thank you for inviting us to share as well, I hope many do the same π Cheers!
Thanks for the return visit! =)
Most of the time,
I write in rhyme,
showing the world,
I’m out of my mind.

I write about God and love, throw in a dash of some encouraging stuff.

Minimal, in a sense. Surreal, sporadically solicitous. And some haikus/prose. Hope my plops satisfy…

and running out of ink,
one line at a time.

(I don’t always write in rhyme. Haha! Just for fun, Happy Poetry Day!)
Well done! π
Cool idea! π
I write whenever something pops up in my mind. I get inspired by everything and everyone. I write about anything, all of them with a deep meaning. I also do my own artwork. I’m an amateur, slow start better than no start.

Poetry for me, is a leap of faith and prose is a habit.
http://thepigmentsoflife.wordpress.com
I write poetry mainly about the darker aspects of life and emotions, with the occasional seedy poem and sometimes the tumultuousness of nature…. with each of my poems I also do a drawing in response and post them together… (I will gradually work my up through this list)
http://apoemandadrawingaday.wordpress.com/
What a wonderful idea! I write from my heart, sometimes free form, sometimes rhyme, it all depends on my mood.

I love this idea! β€
I write about Jesus and the ways He is unraveling my heart. I also write about cats. π check out my blog over at: https://crippledatyourtable.wordpress.com
This is a great idea, and thanks for putting it out there.
I write about anything and everything, and am always up for a good challenge and/or prompt. I am more drawn to traditional standard forms of poetry, than free verse.
http://elliottamc.wordpress.com/
Great idea! So many blogs for me to check out, I love it π
As for me, I am Neha, I am a dreamer and write what comes to mind…I have a soft spot for nature and my poetry /photography usually reflects that -http://forgottenmeadows.wordpress.com/
Happy poetry day ππππππI love reading poetry and the visuals that poets choose alongside their verse : http://soulleitmotifs.wordpress.com/
What an awesome idea! My poetry ranges from upbeat to dark, it is a reflection of where my head is at the time. Feel free to stop by. http://headgamesmeandptsd.wordpress.com/

Somehow I missed the announcement — where did you learn about National Poetry Day? But at any rate I have two blogs devoted to poetry: http://swallowinthewind.wordpress.com and http://treetophaiku.wordpress.com
My haiku blog is at rest right now, though. I’ve been debating whether to start posting on it again, and dividing my poetry into haiku and non-haiku, or to just keep posting all poetry on one blog. Comments & advice are welcome.
I learned about it on WordPress actually. I say categorize your writing the way you want to. =)
Hello. I love the sonnet form and using natural metaphors.i also do some haiku and tanka. You’re most welcome at http://inlovelustandlaughter.wordpress.com
I love this — can’t wait to see who follows you! I write poetry about both nature and the whatever the emotion is stirring about in my life. I also write about family life with my sons–wading through parenthood and trying to make splashes of fun.

Great, idea!
Hi, all! Happy Poetry Day! I’m pretty new to poetry and picked it up as a way help focus my creative writing and play with different perspectives. My poems are more like concise momentary musings; though lately, Iβve been in a rhyming phase. Please stop by and find verse, writing and more at: http://ettemeyer.wordpress.com/
I’m somewhere along the journey of trying to discover what it means to write the kind of poetry that people would want to read.
http://ruralpoet.com
Cool idea! I write poetry, short stories, and occasional articles, all of which cover a myriad of topics. I’m also writing my first novel, the first chapter of which is available on my blog. Last but not least I have a bit of a crush on photography so many of the images I use are my own. Stop by anytime! http://carriepage.com/
Reblogged this on Spiritual challenges .
Thanks for the reblog! =)
I write mostly poetry, but I also dabble in fiction & non-fiction. I like experimenting with a poetry so I write inspired by different schools and forms. For the most part, my motto is the “things that matter” so I will write any form of any content that I want to be able to express & hopefully connect with others.

Happy Poetry Day to fellow poets, writers and bloggers.
I write Hindi poetry and recently started uploading them on http://dreameditbloggedit.wordpress.com/category/poetry/

Hi I’m Courtney! I love to write poetry and prose.
http://stringsofhems.wordpress.com
Great way to celebrate. I write a variety of poetry styles (free verse, and varied traditional formats and verse patterns) and occasionally post an essay. Some is human condition related, issues of industrialized society, anxiety and depression, love poems, loss poems, lots of sad stuff. So enjoy that! π
http://shawnworthwrites.wordpress.com/
Happy National Poetry Day to all! What a fun idea!
I have written only a few poems. I tend to write sadder stuff, I don’t know why, but today I have written something happy. I am also very into The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings and enjoy posting poems and songs from those stories.
http://maggierose96blog.wordpress.com/
Thanks for hosting the party! π
I don’t write in rhyme, but I do write what is on my mind at the time. So I don’t write all of the time, but I’m learning to draw, so I will find another way to express my feelings.
Great idea, this is π
http://fredd13.wordpress.com
awesome its poetry day! i write a lot of really simple, concrete, minimal poems about stuff that pops into my head during the day. i also post lyrics to some songs that i have written.
Yes! Happy poetry day everyone. I’m Maureen and I love poetry in all its shapes and forms – but leaning to the briefer expressions. Plus I love photography.
Ohhh, what a wonderful party! And I’ve suddenly gone all uncharacteristically shy–I’m “Ponder” (some people know me as Caddo). I write various forms–but love Jorio and Tanka, and haiku, as well as longer, and more classic forms…. I’ll be back later to have another sample! http://paradisewaits.wordpress.com
Happy to meet everyone here! Poetry for me is a restoration of uncrookedness. It involves much persistence, failure, and faith but I have yet to meet anything as satiating.

This is a great idea! I write poetry, about nature, growing up, Native American/First Nations People, Plain People, Spirituality, urban life, Asian Culture, and culture in general. I also write some short fiction.
http://nicodemasplusthree.wordpress.com
I don’t always write poetry on my blog but when I do I write from the heart of what’s on my mind at the time. Sometimes its as light as a serious first world problem (cat hair is the plague of everything but jeans) or about things more sober but it always tells a story π
http://ampitheaterwords.wordpress.com/
I love to write all kinds of stuff… About love, life, humor, spirituality etc and add images to go with those stories/poetry. I really enjoy reading other bloggers work as well. This is a great idea! π

A great idea, friend. Thanks. Free verse mania, mostly, but I enjoy Haiku writing, as well.
Writings is the most powerful thing in the world and if we combine each other’s thoughts, it would be insane! I enjoy writing poetry, not exactly haikus, and some pieces that evoke thought.
I started writing poetry a few weeks ago, and now I can’t stop writing! I love that everyone’s writing is so unique with a different style! Passion through Poetry!
http://www.movingtowardsthelight.com
I love poetry, but I cannot say I write a lot of them. I got a few I’ve written here: http://pixiesandstardust.com/category/poetry-2/
Thanks for this post, I got to follow some lovely blogs. π
Great way to get everyone connected!
Pinning down exactly what I write about feels a bit restricting. I don’t want to define who I am yet.
https://writingcradle.wordpress.com/
I believe in letting every word speak for itself. I write to sort out my muddled emotions, but mostly out of inspiration.
http://www.felicityandflorets.wordpress.com
Happy Poetry Day:)
By now you’re probably tired of the ‘great idea’ comments – but it really was. Thanks for all the introductions to poets I wouldn’t have found without your help.
Aww. No problem. β€
Wonderful idea!
I write free verse poetry. My poetry usually carries a darker tone and I often update my blog.
https://rambunctiousremington.wordpress.com
I love this idea! I am just beginning to introduce poetry to my blog but definitely want to join the party. My poetry is free verse and some haiku. Thank you for thinking of this!
http://www.gracednotes.wordpress.com
I’m so late! This is too cool of an idea to pass up, though.
http://theryanpelaez.wordpress.com
OK, I am way behind too. I should have looked at the date, I thought that National Poetry Day was today, but I don’t know how I missed it to begin with. This is one of my favorites…

Whoo hoo – a party =) I write light, rhyming poetry inspired by science and nature. I also write science fiction and blog on science in the news. Raise a glass to the screen and we’ll share a toast at http://katerauner.wordpress.com/
I write poetry, short stories, just random paragraphs π I also sketch and enjoy traveling. My blog is Prose Over Bros (www.proseoverbros.wordpress.com). I’m eighteen and still discovering my place in the world π any form of input and critique is welcome.
