At the airport
I gave my friend
a serene Buddha
although neither of us
knew the Four Truths
or the Eight Fold Path.
She turned it in her hand:
a statuette, small
enough to fit
inside her pocket.
It would be
the someone
who always
smiled back
when she did.
My kind of friend…lovely.
Thank you!
Very nice
Thanks. =)
Such a precious jewel of poetry! You have every right to be proud of this one. 🙂

Thank you so much! I guess I can do some kind of victory dance? =)
I felt the simplistic serenity like that first cool ocean breeze of summer. Thank you for the sensation. It was wonderful.
I’m so glad it evoked such a feeling. Thanks! ❤
I kept thinking the last one was going to say: It would be the someone who always smiles back when she didn’t. It would bring a whole other meaning to the poem. 🙂
Lovely.
Indeed, it would be a different meaning. I was thinking more of a companion the traveler could share their joy with. But, you should considering exploring the other idea! *winks* ❤
The smiling back.. maybe it’s just what we need to get us trough our days..
Here’s one for you then. =)
Thank you!
Lovely poem. I’m enjoying your blog in general 😉 Thanks for the follow.
